As one of our Sales Managers said, “Monday is Funday!”

To celebrate, I thought I’d do another Did You Know post:

  1. T&T has the largest piece of artwork in Vegas at 64 feet long
  2. TENDER steak & seafood has 340 selections of wine and 1,200 bottles
  3. Every month over 150 pounds of sugar is used at TENDER steak & seafood
  4. The pastry department at TENDER steak & seafood  uses over 160 eggs per day
  5. In one year, over 30 film crews shot footage for movies or television shows at Luxor
  6. Because of its shape, there are no support beams within the pyramid
  7. You would need 8,848,000 eight ounce glasses of water to fill Luxor’s 5 pools
  8. It would take 9.8 football fields of glass to make up the sides of the pyramid
  9. It takes one week to clean each side of the pyramid
  10. 1,750 apartments (at 1,400 square feet each) would fit on Luxor’s Casino Floor
  11. At BODIES… The Exhibition, you can learn that 60,000 miles of blood vessels are found in the human body.
  12. At Titanic: The Artifact Exhibitionyou can see an actual piece of the Titanic ship. The piece weighs 15 tons and its installation at Luxor took over 24 hours.
  13. The portholes of the Titanic piece on display look into first class cabins
  14. At Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition you can learn that a first-class ticket for a parlor suite started at Titanic cost $4,350, which would be approximately $50,000 today.  The most expensive rooms were more than $80,000 in today’s currency.
  15. At Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition you can learn that tennis player R. Norris Williams and his father, Charles D., felt it was too cold to remain out on deck as the ship went down, so they went into the gym to ride the exercise bikes.

This month, the Living Section of the Las Vegas Review Journal (LVRJ) is holding a contest to choose Vegas’s Sexiest Cocktail Waitress.

At Luxor, we’re very excited because our own, Jordan Lee “J-Lee” Abeyta from LAX Nightclub is among the ten finalists!

She’s awesome and gorgeous to boot. So, I have my fingers tightly crossed that she will win. You can help make that happen by voting here by March 15, 2009.

On February 12, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models invaded Las Vegas and more specifically, Luxor.

They flew from New York City in a SI One, a Southwest Airplane that had the cover model, Bar, painted across the entire plane.

They partied at LAX Nightclub.

The best part? They did some stunt driving on the top of our parking garage and in North Valet with some Nissan 370Z’s. One word to describe the experience? Awesome.

Don’t believe it? Watch Part One of the video series:

Yesterday, the Orbitz Travel Blog posted about their Top 10 Casino Lounges. I was excited to see that Liquidity, the Center Bar at Luxor had made the list! The post got me thinking about what my top five favorite and maybe unknown places at Luxor were. Without further adieu:

  1. Noir Bar inside LAX. Noir Bar has the most extraordinary bartenders you will ever meet. While I often get a PB&J martini there, if you name two of your favorite foods, the bartenders will whip up a drink with those ingredients. They are always spot on.
  2. T&T (Tacos & Tequila). By far my favorite spot for lunch. I know it sounds like marketing talk, but there really is a fun, high energy vibe there. The shrimp quesadilla and ceviche are my favorites. Plus, you can’t beat the free chips and dip they serve.
  3. Aurora Bar. Located off the main lobby, it’s great for people watching. You can always judge the quality of a place by their mojitos. And well, Aurora has the best  mojitos I’ve ever had.
  4. Carrot Top. I know, the curly orange hair is wild. But, the show is great! Especially for locals. Carrot Top always mixes up his act and adds new, relevant skits. Plus, the laugh factor is high. It’s one show I really don’t mind watching again and again.
  5. Nurture, the Spa at Luxor. I’m a girl. The idea of a massage, pedicure and steam room all in one place is heavenly. While this spa has your typical offerings, they also have unique ones like a Coconut Scrub and a seasonal offer (i.e. Margarita scrub during summer). Plus, you can’t beat their prices or that the spa always offers 20% off to locals!

Because Luxor is so diverse, from its staff to its venues, hearing only one “voice” on this blog would be an inaccurate portral of Luxor. So, I plan to work with employees and various departments to get as many different voices and Guest Posts as possible. Below is one from Kussette who works at Liquidity, the center bar at Luxor.

Luxor was known for its Egyptian theme, hieroglyphics on the wall, mummies, pharaoh, sphinx, obelisk, RA, Nile and Nefertiti’s. Now, those were things of the past. The Luxor is reborn. There is a whole new different experience from what was ancient. We’re now more living in the present with a more lively and provocative atmosphere in the center bar, Liquidity and restaurant and nightclubs like LAX and CatHouse. We got the perfect hang out to talk and meet new people in Aurora– lobby bar. Why not try some refreshing cocktails on your first landing to Vegas. I recommend the Liquid Lemonade as one of the most refreshing cocktails invented. How about something different like a Strawberry Caprioskasfor the sweet tooth drinker or the popular signature drink Aurora which is fresh blueberries martini. It would be best to have it on Thurs-Mon from 8pm-6am. Don’t ask why, just take my word on it 😉

Not to mention, Flight, the best hang out while waiting for flights departure in LAS airport or to go to LAX nightclub on Wed, Thurs, Fri or Sat. One should definitely try the flights such as the First Class Whiskey or First Class Tequila. You’ll be paying much less to try ultra premium spirits in this bar than any other bar ever. Such as Patron Platinum and Crown XR plus it comes with the most creative garnishes ever like beef jerky for whiskeys and butterscotch candies for apple martinis. You name it they have the most eclectic menu out there.

In Liquidity, which is the center bar of it all, you can taste the slow dripping Absinthe.

Lastly, Criss Angel or Carrot Top might be the next person you see hanging out in one of the lounge or nightclubs mentioned. There is more to come at Luxor, like escalators, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and BODIES… The Exhibition and a whole bunch more for the ecstatic, energetic and full spirit crowd.

I have a confession. One of my biggest guilty pleasures is CatHouse‘s cotton candy. I can’t figure out why, but it’s slightly different than “normal” cotton candy. It’s lighter, more magical and there’s some flavor in it that makes you feel like a kid and an “adult” at the same time.

Needless to say, I look for any excuse to visit CatHouse and eat cotton candy. Last night provided just that 🙂 Yesterday, was the soft opening for CatHouse’s newest night, Closet Sundays. Of course, I had to check it out. As a hotel (and a company) we’re big on diversity. We’re also big on providing experiences for everyone and anyone. Closet Sundays provides an upscale Fashion Boutique ultralounge for those in the LGBT community and for those who just enjoy fashion. And wow, there are fashion shows, models and clothing companies galore at this event!

If you want to learn more about the event, view the official press release. While it doesn’t mention the fabulous cotton candy, it does go into more event details.
